World In A Weekend: International Puppet Festival

We here at DiscoverStratford are delighted to turn the blog over to the team at SpringWorks~PuppetWorks. They are going to share some info about their upcoming World in a Weekend Festival. Here's what they had to say:
"Between July 31- August 4, Stratford will come alive with stilt-walking creatures, free outdoor family activities by the Avon River, and unforgettable puppet performances. This is our 4th annual World in a Weekend festival, and we at SpringWorks~PuppetWorks are so thrilled to be continuing the tradition. World-renowned puppeteers will be coming to Stratford from Ontario and Quebec, Finland, Israel, Spain, and Italy, to share their acclaimed shows.
For adults, we’re hosting a wonderful variety of summer nights out you can enjoy with your family, friend group, or solo! The festival kicks off with an Eclectic Cabaret filled with a plethora of music, puppetry, and more. The cabaret is followed immediately by Line Dance, Latin Style, where folks of all experience levels are invited to learn basic Salsa and Latin moves, then enjoy the party, drinks and freestyle dancing until late into the evening.
Headlining the festival, as part of a world tour, is acclaimed performing artist Yael Rasooly in her puppetry musical tour de force show, Edith and Me. If you’re looking for a delicious night out, Rasooly will also bring her world-class cabaret stylings with Hymn to Love, hosted at Stratford’s wonderful Revival House restaurant.
For families, we have several delightful shows on offer including the world premiere of Wren’s Recipes, a tale of a Ukrainian grandmother’s magical recipe book, and Story Bike, a spooky and dreamy sunset show that you and your littles can attend in your pajamas.The littlest audiences will love Scribbles, an imaginative, silly story about sharing, and Block Theatre, a multisensory experience that creates a whole world out of only wooden blocks.
Folks of all ages will love the various free events scattered about town - including professional stilt walkers, musical and interactive puppets, craft and face paint stations, and much more!
World in a Weekend is a deep dive into the vast, unexpected world of puppetry. We look forward to the innovative performances and international influences, distilled into one action-packed weekend for all ages!
