Restaurant Review: The Common
Bruce, your host at the Perth County Inn and Edison’s Inn, recently dined at The Common and shared his review:
“The Common’s menu presents a diverse selection of comfort foods drawing inspiration from cuisines of China, the Caribbean, Morocco, Japan, Korea, Italy, Thailand, Belgium, and North America. Owner and Stratford Chef School graduate Tim Otsuki’s guiding principle is “Eating Without Borders.” I opted for the Moroccan Tangine, a dish showcasing bold Moroccan-spiced local vegetables, aromatic rice pilaf, and gluten-free Socca bread. The spices imparted a delightful warmth. My dining companion savored the Khao Sri Gai, featuring lime leaf/lemongrass/cilantro root marinated chicken, stir-fried local vegetables, chow mein noodles in a vibrant yellow coconut broth topped with wontons.
The Common is an excellent choice for diners seeking gluten-free options, with many dishes being naturally gluten-free or offering readily available gluten-free alternatives. The menu emphasizes local sourcing, incorporating ingredients from Soiled Reputation, the Wild Hog, cheese from Stonetown, and Downie Street Bakehouse. Notably, the restaurant even harvests grapes and crab apples from its own backyard garden patio.
Cass, the Front of House Manager, has been an integral part of The Common since its inception.  She is the consumate professional, but also makes your visit fun and engaging with her conversation and captivating Stratford stories.”
