Catherine’s Candy Tour: Part 1

Cracking the Case at Rhéo Thompson

By DiscoverStratford.com - Published October 7, 2024

Over the summer, we were delighted to share 8-year-old Catherine's (and her parents') ice cream adventures with you. Now, we're so pleased that Catherine has returned for a new mission: Candy Store Reviews!

A few months ago, we explored the rich history and fascinating owners of Rhéo Thompson Candies [link to follow].  For this post, though, it is Catherine’s show, offering her expert opinion as an “undercover” customer at this Stratford landmark.

As always, Catherine begins with some sage advice: "Be sure to put enough money in the meter because you can lose track of time in this store. We were in there for 1/2 an hour!! So be prepared. If you walk by on the street and look in the window, you have to go in because there's sooooo many interesting things to look at."  She continues, "The staff in there were kind and friendly and they talked to me a little bit. I tried the milk chocolate bark first, because it kind of caught my eye. It was the best one!"

More Catherine-isms: "The store has sooo many varieties. And if I could buy everything for a dollar, I would. Did I already say the bark is delicious? There is such cute packaging. It is adorable and there's many things in one package. Oh, what’s in this one? It’s heavy! Oh&hellip nuts!"

Mom adds, "We were greeted warmly, and the two staff-members were really friendly and helpful. We sat across the street on the step of the Armory &ndash it was such a beautiful fall day with the sun filtering through the trees, enjoying a treat with my daughter."  Catherine will be back soon with another Candy Report.
