A Haunting Good Time At Fryfogel Tavern

Spooky Season is Upon Us

Get ready to delve into the eerie past at the Fryfogel Tavern & Arboretum. Your host at Avery House B&B, Amanda, came upon an interesting announcement: their annual Ghost Tours are back on Friday, October 25th.

Now, before you envision a spine-chilling séance, fear not! This event leans more towards the intriguing than the terrifying. Expect to hear captivating tales of the Tavern's fascinating history, dating back to its construction in 1844 by Swiss immigrant Sebastian Fryfogel.

Intrigued, Amanda dove headfirst into the building's past. As she discovered, "Fryfogel's Tavern is the last remaining of the many Canada Company taverns built along the Huron Tract. Now owned and maintained by the Stratford Perth Heritage Foundation, the building sits on 5 acres and is undergoing a remarkable transformation. A community effort is underway to establish a garden showcasing native plants and trees, reflecting the pre-settlement landscape. The tavern itself is being lovingly restored to serve as a museum and community gathering place."

So, if you're looking for a touch of Halloween spookiness with a generous side of rich history, this mellow afternoon event at Fryfogel Tavern sounds like the perfect way to celebrate the season!
